Who are we?

Environmental Women Association (EWA)

Founded on March 3, 2016, EWA brings together citizens dedicated to the well-being, health, and dignity of Moroccans.

a non-profit, apolitical, and inclusive association, EWA raises awareness and encourages both citizens and public authorities to promote hygiene, cleanliness, civility, and civic responsibility.

Our motto, “Dignified Toilets for All,” drives our concrete actions:

  • Expanding access to toilets and washrooms in rural areas and ensuring clean, well-maintained facilities in urban settings.
  • Running awareness campaigns on hygiene and cleanliness, and creating interactive spaces for training, information sharing, and collaboration with authorities, associations, and international organizations.
  • Engaging online and through media to educate and inform the public via our website, social media, and other platforms.
  • Together, we strive for a Morocco where everyone enjoys dignity, health, and hygiene.

How does EWA take action?

  • Advocating for the installation and maintenance of clean toilets for all.
  • Conducting awareness campaigns on hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Promoting a participatory approach for sustainable, inclusive development.
  • Establishing and strengthening close relationships with interested municipalities, involving local residents.
  • Encouraging civic communication through an active presence online via social media and the media.

What actions has EWA taken?

EWA has reached out to raise awareness through official correspondence with key local authorities, including:

  • Walis and Regional Presidents
  • City Mayors

EWA has raised awareness by engaging with key governmental and regional institutions, including:

  • The Ministry of Environment
  • The Regional Council of Rabat
  • The Regional Directorate of the Academy of Education and Training, Rabat-Kenitra-Salé
  • The City Halls of Rabat and Salé
  • The City Hall of Tangier
  • The City Hall of Marrakech
  • The Directorate of Cooperation at ONEP
  • The Directorate of ONCF and CDG

EWA has also raised awareness among:

  • Officials from UNDP
  • Officials from WHO
  • Officials from UNICEF
  • Ambassadors of Japan, Korea, China, and India
  • The Ribat al Fath Association and the Bou Regreg Association
  • Media outlets: television, radio, and Moroccan press
  • Other national, regional, and international NGOs and associations
